I love novelizations of movies and TV shows, because they always give you so much more than the strictly-visuals can. And having seen this episode (several times) I can picture it while getting the inside-view from the characters. I particularly liked that the author switched POV more often— I feel like I got a better idea of Colonel Sumner that way. There’s even a bit of Sam/Jack ‘shippiness at the beginning that’s not in the episode— Jack’s only in the first two chapters but he thinks about Sam about six times *g*

A great visual aide to the books (which, with all the crazy gods and magic, could use some) but if you haven’t read them, there are definite spoilers.

Genre: young adult fantasy
Publishing Date: 2011

Read Again?: it’s likely

I really enjoy this series. It’s the same kind of quirky humor as the author’s Percy Jackson series, but with a great Egyptian flavor. The mythology might be a little complicated for someone who’s never heard of it, but I happen to love it (Latin was my college minor, especially the mythology, plus I watch a lot of Stargate). Now I’m impatiently waiting for book three…
